Ist es wieder soweit, ja? Da hat man die letzte Sause im MIKZ gerade erst verdaut und schon haut uns die Feiertachsfront ungefragt einen weiteren beweglichen Ferientag um die Ohren. Lecker Drum’n'Bass und Techno. Was soll man dazu sagen? Da muss man hin, da macht man mit.

Die Feiertachs-Meute um DJ Diaz-Soto steht für gepflegt servierten DnB, das weiß man, doch weil es beim letzten Mal so schön war, fällt auch diesmal der Sprung auf den Techhouse-Zug überhaupt nicht schwer. Bei dieser Fahrt gibt’s keine zweite Klasse, soviel sei gesagt.
Als Schaffner vom Dienst konnten junge Herren angeheuert werden, die gerade abgehen wie Schmitz Katze zwischen den S-Bahngleisen:

Oliver $ kennt man ja. Spätestens nach Auskopplung seines geschmeidigen Aloe Blacc Remix “I need a Dollar” kommt man an ihm nicht mehr wirklich vorbei. Will man auch gar nicht. Als Resident der Panorama Bar weiß der Berliner, wie man nicht nur Gesichtszüge entgleisen lässt. Mit “Doing Ya Thang” hat Oliver $ noch einmal ordentlich nachgelegt und spielt sich auf internationalem Parkett nach oben. Ganz oben.

Zero Method aus Budapest will mal so richtig die Fenster aufreißen im Zug nach Basshausen. Der talentierte junge Ungar produziert und plattendreht sich unermüdlich in die Herzen der feinschmeckenden DnB-Szene und zieht erstmalig in Berlin die Notbremse auf halber Strecke in Richtung Bass-Olymp.

Bei Hickup ist der Name Programm: stark, unerwartet und doch so herrlich rhythmisch erwischt dich der Schluckauf, wenn du ihn am wenigsten erwartest. Den lässig housigen Sound dieser Kieler Jungs jedoch will man nicht mit verkrampftem Luftanhalten im Keim ersticken. Im Gegenteil, den Hickup’s gibt man sich gerne hin.

Mit Sqim und Bone geben sich zwei weitere Berliner Ausnahmetalente die Ehre. Ersterer hat nicht zuletzt mit “Forever More” einen Stein ins Rollen gebracht, der unaufhaltsam in Richtung dicke Nummer rollt.
Da kann man nicht meckern, das klingt doch ganz nett. In diesem Sinne, Buy the Ticket – Take the Ride!

The Story:
A trip through time and space: In 1996 US-Drum&Bass legend Soul Slinger together with Supa MC TC Izlam (aka T-Frequency To The Love Degree) released “Zulu Music Pt.1 and 2” on his legendary label “Jungle Sky Records”, having been a platform for so many artists who made their ways into the world´s artist-elite such as A Guy Called Gerald, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Spooky and Air Liquide, just to name a few.

On envloop 005 “Zulu Music 2011 EP” this true jewel of New Yorican Underground found it´s way into the present decade, given a treatment by it´s creator Soul Slinger and Austrian artist Hillberg. What had been anticipating “Dubstep” decades before this genre was born, now comes along as a trippy Hip Hop tune reminiscent of the sound of Stereo MC´s or Gary Clail.

As a matter of course, Envloop´s New York artists I-Cue and Odyssey were invited to contribute their remixes, having been part of DJ Soul Slinger´s “Jungle Sky” and “Liquid Sky” family in the 90′s. I-Cue comes up with a hipsteppin’ Drum & Bass remix building an audible bridge across the decades. Odyssey then joins with his brother I-Cue and follows up with a pumping Kraftwerky Soul Sonic Electrofunk interpretation of the song.

Soul Slinger´s 1996 Original completes the transatlantic sound-journey, before we hop over “the pond” to Liverpool, England, where Kooky joins in with a UK Electrohouse version in his own typical style. Bremen, Germany based artist Diffr3nt follows up with a pumping Techhouse version that will definitely not let you hold your feet still. And still the tune´s trip in it´s new 2011 shape has not ended: From the Northern German coastline it hops to Vienna, where the Austrian talents of Struboskop dress “Zulu Music 2011” in a funky House-robe.

Unsere Partyreihe “Nice One!” hat gerade ein schönes Zuhause in der Kieler Schaubude gefunden, da steht schon die Existens der Kultinstutition in Frage!? Warum sind die anderen böse und wir gut? Die Frage lässt sich nicht so leicht beantworten daher beschließen wir einfach mit dem weiterzumachen was wir am besten können. Plattenauflegen und Euch einen relaxten Abend mit guter Musik, Schnaps und Bier bescheren. Damit das auch locker von der Hand geht haben wir uns diesmal Verstärkung aus der Hauptstadt geholt. DJ FLOWPRO von der Plainaudio Crew aus Berlin wird uns beehren. Ihr dürft gespannt sein!

Track two, “Roboskop” furthers the Italo feeling on your turntable, getting you “pazzo” over it, as does track three, “Roboterotic”. Alberto Terzi´s Clubmix of “Don’t Stop, Robot” is a superb re-interpretation of the original. It´s Italo Synthpop grooves will have you doing “the robot” in no time. Why we are so sure about it? Well, because it’s worked like this on dancefloors from Shanghai to Vienna where the tune has already been tried and tested. On all those dancefloors, it didn’t take a minute to turn the “dance”floors into “Robot”floors…

German drum and bass artist Mightiness based in Kiel adds a massive drum and bass remix, New Yorker I-Cue contributes a funky Electro-mix Kraftwerk-style. Austrian artist Der Cube finally comes up with a chilled House mix. As always, dancefloor-burner quality comes with Liverpool based Kooky, who adds a massive UK-Electrohouse rework.

Struboskop, an Austrian dj/producer crew based in Vienna, whose crew-members Zorillah, Simeks and Techtrix “learned their skillz” in the beautiful Austrian mountain landscape of Vorarlberg. They have appeared frequently on international music-platforms and have been played by artists such as Round Table Knights (Made To Play, CH). Smalltown DJs (CAN), Social Disco Club (PRT), Top Billin (FIN), Functionist & Beware (UNLTD, AUT) and others.

Violetta Parisini is also Vienna based, a multi-talented Jazz singer who has just released her album “Giving You My Heart to Mend” on Universal. The album, produced with Florian Cojocaru, is a collection of catchy Jazz-Pop tunes but Violetta has not forgotten her commitment to electronic beats. Having discovered turntables as an instrument for herself and as an accompanying tool for her vocal-overdubs, she started a DJ-ing and singer career in 2001. Ever since, she has toured clubs between Berlin and Vienna, between Bratislava and Munich, her record-case in one hand and her microphone in the other.
